What is a TFP shoot?
TFP commonly means time for print or time for photos. Models, photographers, and other creatives exchange their time and skills for agreed portfolio images instead of a usual creative fee. The arrangement should benefit each contributor. Travel, studio rental, and materials can still cost money.

Start with a realistic travel area and the kind of images your portfolio needs. In member discovery, review profession, location, portfolio work, and collaboration preferences. Look for people who state that they welcome TFP or portfolio building, then ask about their current availability. A profile is a starting point, not confirmation that someone has agreed to a shoot.
Make your first invitation useful: include a city, a date range, a concept, the team you need, expected expenses, and the intended image use. Agree on the exact location privately with the team before travelling.
Agree on the exchange before the shoot
- Decide on image count, selection, editing, and a realistic delivery date.
- Confirm who pays for the studio, travel, wardrobe, and other expenses.
- Discuss portfolio use, publication, and competition entry separately.
- Record each contributor’s name and role so the finished work carries accurate credits.
